Share the Doom (Postal 2 TC | WIP)

Post by Kizoky »

Over the years we had several Postal 2 mods (or maybe really a few of them) for ZDoom..
But what if we use actual models? Now that's the real question!

I present to you...

This mod will use models, textures, sounds from Postal 2, and try to behave Postal 2 as close as possible.
You can currently kick everything and open doors/switches, pee on everything, Holster your weapon like in Postal 2, very experimental Postal 2-like NPC AI (bumping, seeing, reacting), Dogs & Cats with Postal 2-like AI, and many more..

There's many of them, so here's a playlist instead: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... UHbVeX2Oue
Latest video:
Spoiler:
Download link will be available when it's finished, and unfortunately I don't know when will that be
If you know about Mr. Smiley II, then you will understand why..

Currently there are 2 people working on this mod (excluding me) both are worked (and still working) on Catharsis Reborn, a Postal 3 TC mod.

Share the Doom borrows code from other mods, they'll be all properly credited

It would be really great if such mod became close to a port of Postal 2 when further developed.

You know, the original engine of that game is so unstable that the game will definitely crash when you start messing around too much w/o going to a new "zone".

I'm not sure If I can port it 1:1
But I'm sure I can make it feel like a Postal 2 game, of course without any crashes :P

Perhaps you could make it more "after" Paradise Lost, like how Blood TC was sorta it's own storyline from the original Blood? Either way, i'm very excited to see this become a thing and I'm overjoyed to see a Postal 2 mod for Doom!

It's more like a "what if" scenario:
Spoiler:
Well I hope you'll like it if it gets released

Mod isn't dead!

- Headshots, that behaves like Nash's Nashgore: https://streamable.com/454b1
- Similar to PatrolPoint, this works just by manually placing them in a map, and making sure they are facing the next point (trying to imitate Postal 2's path nodes): https://streamable.com/rwkeq
- When dead, you can look around: https://streamable.com/lec53
- Fire spreading WIP (It's intentionally slow just to show how it's spreading): https://streamable.com/s27oo
- Heart beats faster when using catnip: https://streamable.com/k9jd5

Glad to see the progress status of this project. Looking forwards to see how this game will adapt in gzdoom engine. :)

I am not expecting 100% conversion either, there is usually some "creativity twist" or "own ideas" added in this kind of conversion projects, which makes the mod shine in a new engine in the end. 8-)

Hey people, after a year of working on this mod I decided to make it public to everyone, hopefully that way I can find more bugs and features I don't know about Postal 2

You need to get the latest version of GZDoom (atleast 4.2.0+)
