If you still want to go ahead, please request access to the tables through Google Docs.
Actually not long after I made my post, I was able to get another Esperantist on board with the translation, so I should be getting help with proper translation and proofreading.
I also made my own copies of the sheets, with a handful of additions from me:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... p=drivesdk
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... p=drivesdk

FYI the Esperanto community may be small but is pretty close-nit from what I've seen, and many Esperantists are willing to help with translation if you simply get their attention.
Also there ARE native Esperanto speakers, albeit only numbered in the hundreds.

I really have to wonder how and why that happened. My assumption would be parents trying to prove a point or something.

Nothing is impossible, I guess...
Regarding the language, I'll take what I can get, but this spreadsheet forking is a bit of a problem. As long as there's forks pending I cannot reorganize the "added content" block at the bottom of the engine strings.

I say go for it. Supporting Esperanto is a good idea, actually, considering the language's purpose is to be a unifying second language.

I can copy the additions from my fork over to your main sheets. I just requested access.

Exactly, thank you.

Please stop pasting over the entire Esperanto column with each edit. It makes it impossible for others to edit it and to review the changes. You already undid one edit I made with that. Better edit the Google sheet directly or only copy the items you really changed to avoid problems.

Oooh, I'm sorry about that. I didn't realize I was undoing other edits in that section. I'll be sure to add edits individually from now on.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I was able to get a few more people helping out with the Esperanto translation, so that should hopefully speed things up.

Hello!

This is an interesting project and I would like to help with a Dutch translation.
But I do not have a Google account, what's the best way to work on it then?

In that case you will have to download the spreadsheet as an Excel or ODS file and make the edits locally, and then send them to me either by PM or EMail, I'd prefer EMail so I sent you my mail address via PM. Please note that this is my throwaway address for spam so it's not something I regularly check and it may take a day or two to register.

I started translating the level names, but there's several where I have no idea how to translate the English term. Would it be ok if I used the German term as a base in such cases? I find those often far easier to translate than the English originals.

Sure. The reason those are different is the exact same problem you are outlining, i.e. the English term was either hard to translate or not really translatable at all.
I think the biggest mistake a translator can do is trying to do a literal translation. Often this makes little sense.

All added. All the level names in one go? Nice job. ;)
I still chose to replace TNT's 'Hanger' with the correct 'Hangar'. In English this may be borderline acceptable, but for all other languages it better be corrected to avoid confusion.

I've always seen 'hangar' as the correct spelling for it.
