The first time i saw this effect, i was impressed.


Question : How can i make this effect ?

Renderstyle Translucent, Alpha something (probably 0.5-ish?), either -SOLID or +NOBLOCKMAP (possibly both).

Given that Icarus predates Decorate and in fact any native support for translucency, I sort of wonder if this is actually the "Arch-Vile resurrects ghost monsters" bug, that ZDoom is applying some flourish to.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away that was indeed a zdoom feature.

Does it means that it is no possible to re-use this "bug" ? (i try in a map, nothing appends )

Pretty sure the bug is supported via a compatibility option.

Look in the compatibility options menu, actor behavior sub-menu. The option is something like "Crushed monsters can be resurrected". I don't think you'll get the translucency effect any more because that was just a ZDoom feature that was removed many years ago, but the basic bug of resurrected ghosts should still work.

Bug... working... :trippy:
