To be fair, many of the original Doom sprites have messed up heights as you go around the angles. It's one of the reasons why making models that accurately represent the Doom sprites is impossible.Ravick wrote:I was taking a look at the originals. I use Xim's marines as base, in this case the knife one.
It seems that the front frames I've used are on average 7 pixels taller then the back ones. I've never noticed it in game, but I guess my disproportional front frames maybe inherit it.
Spoiler:Oh, snap. =/
Pixel per pixel clicking again. hehe

edit: I had the feeling that the holster was too small for the guy... it was kinda true, the guy was too tall for the holster o.õ
Oh, and thanks for point that out. I had not realized that.
The front on picture of your guy is even quite a bit taller than the Doomguy - but his legs are the same length. So, yeah, a looong torso. Shouldn't be too hard to sort out though.
Nice, I always figured your avatar was just a guy in a balaclava with an NVG monocle. However, it looks like that cybernetic guy and your avatar could have a connection.Graaicko wrote:Cybernetic Organism

Heres a Shotgun Guard that uses a heavily edited Wolf3d SS.

That looks awesome. Do you have a full sprite set?Graaicko wrote:Heres a Shotgun Guard that uses a heavily edited Wolf3d SS.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Honestly, his torso is still pretty long compared with his legs. I think he could still stand to lose another pixel or maybe two from roughly his waistband area. It was a little bit tricky working with your x3 image, so this is very rough but here is is shortened by 1 and then 2 pixels.
I *think* that makes him stand about 55 pixels high (from toe-tip to the top of his head in this stance) which, given that PLAYE1 (the sprite this is based off - the legs at least) is 56 pixels tall and wearing a helmet, it's about right for Doom proportions.

Humm... I guess it won't be so difficult to take off one or two pixels from the waist area. It'll save me from redoing all the sprites. I'll try to not make the holster shorter, though.
Thank you a lot, Enjay.
Specially for all the effort with the images to show me that.

Just some kind of lectern I came up with. I was going to use it, but I changed my mind, so...here you go.

I'll tinker with it later on, but I might be able to come up with something.Captain J wrote:Hope i can see this animated. You know, make the pages changing? Maybe i'm wishing too much. Nice work, though!

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
I thought the legs on the original sprites looked passable.
Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Problem is, they wouldn't work very well at all. There is a joint missing. If you watch the baron's walking animation, it's pretty stiff and awkward and this is probably the reason.
