I have a big issue.
Basically put, I'd like to get back to playing on GZDoom, but unfortunately, the table I am issued is too small for both my laptop and a mouse; I have to use the built-in pad instead. This means I have to play keyboard-only. Any ideas on how to work around this issue?

uh, try to get a bigger table? try moving things around? learn how to play keyboard only? find a smaller mouse? I seriously don't know what you're trying to get from this.

Yeah, I want to play keyboard-only, but I have no idea how to configure the game's controls for such.InsanityBringer wrote:uh, try to get a bigger table? try moving things around? learn how to play keyboard only? find a smaller mouse? I seriously don't know what you're trying to get from this.
Re: I have a big issue.
Back in the mid-90s I used to play all kinds of first-person shooters with the keyboard only, up until Quake 2.
One popular configuration was:
Movement - Arrow keys
Strafing - Left Alt + Arrow Left/Right
Fire - Left Ctrl
Run (no autorun back then!) - Left Shift
Jump - Space
Look up/down - Del/Page Down
Center view - End
Use item - Return
Alternatively - Just put a bigger board onto the table?

I don't have a bigger table nor space for one, mainly since I have to share my room with someone else (living in a group home).Cherno wrote:Back in the mid-90s I used to play all kinds of first-person shooters with the keyboard only, up until Quake 2.

Aren't the controls already configured for keyboard out of the box, pretty much like vanilla?
I'm sure you'll think of some alternative, though. What about...
- Get a folding TV tray table for ~$10 and put your mouse on it. Fold it up and stash it when not playing.
- Get a handheld trackball for ~$15, works just like a mouse, but doesn't need a desk.
- Get a USB gamepad for ~$20. Not a mouse, but better than trying to circle strafe on a keyboard.
- Get in the habit of taking laptop somewhere else with bigger tables (try a local coffee shop or park).

If your laptop has a separate number pad, that can almost kinda work as a fake mouse. Precise aiming is tricky, but that's what auto aim is for.

Re: I have a big issue.
The setup i used when my mouse broke was this:
WASD - Movement
E - Open doors
R - Reload
Left and Right arrows - Look left and right
Up arrow - Fire
Down Arrow - Alt-Fire
That should work.
