[SPRITES][MONSTER]Motherdemon

If you haven't played Doom 64 for Doom II yet, you should now, it's amazing!
D64D2 Forum Thread

This is the boss Motherdemon monster I made for the Doom64D2 project. Much like project itself, this monster's concept is taken directly from Doom64 and then remade from scratch by me for a better fit within vanilla Doom.

I always inteded this monster to be available for everyone to use - it's been around a month since D64D2's release, so I think most people had a chance to play it and associate it with the project it has been made for, so I'm making the sprites public today!

Available for non commercial use (including editing/modifications) for everyone as long as credit is given.

Credits:
  • Cage - adapting design, 3d model, animation, final sprite overpainting
  • Midway - Original Doom64 game and monster designs/renders
  • Mechadon, Death Egg - Doom64D2 project leaders

I wanted to say this was an amazing monster. Now we need to set it up as its own instead of a monster replacement for the Cyberdemon and then it would be good to go!

If you wonder why that is, have a look at the person who posted it. ;)

From the style point of view, this looks more raven-styled. And I like it.

Hmmm... Add legs and we can have another Korax-like Serpent Rider.

its a beautiful thing...

but its to be expected where cage is involved

what we need now is a set of doom/doom2 themed unmaker hud sprites to go with it

It really is an impressive sprite set. Personally, I much prefer it to the D64 version. All of the sprites in that game are blurry and indistinct (a function of the production method), despite being larger than the original Doom PC ones.

With the nice pixel-art details in this one, the motherdemon looks far meaner and I've got a much clearer idea of what it is meant to look like with this sprite versus the D64 original. I also really like the choices about how the metal/techy bits look.

I agree that it wouldn't look out of place in a Raven game too and, yup, it has a familial-like resemblance to Korax. None of these are bad things. :D
