Is newstuff chronicles over at Doomworld dead?

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

If no coverage is being done for more than two months I would say there's an organizational problem at Doomworld. There is more than enough unreviewed content available to get a set of reviews out.

It looks worse than originally thought - the newest entry on the newstuff page was uploaded last July.

Nah, I retired years ago...I pop up occasionally to update my projects (though it may not happen again with /idgames getting ever more restrictive) and to remake The Crystal Maze as a one-off urge.

That also worries me . I have absolutely no idea what the people there are smoking but they certainly do their best to make people NOT upload their stuff to /idgames.
They should encourage it but it seems they want the opposite.

How is /idgames more restrictive now? I am out of the loop in this regard.

I don't know the entire story but they added some verification steps to the upload process if I am not mistaken, i.e. some added red tape that may make some people decide to stay away.

Uploads now require email verification to stop people from posting awful things on purpose. Which, IMO, is just an extra step on top of the already slightly unreasonable FTP system, which I've never had the best of luck with using that without my uploads dying for no reason.

It's actually something newer than that (the email verification isn't a problem really), however I'm not going to discuss it here so as to avoid derailment. (particularly as it was me that mentioned it in the first place)

I still use FTPX for that...the only thing is you have to quit the program to actually start the upload. (it kills the "too many connections" error spam)

To be a bit more on-topic, I suppose the reason /newstuff Chronicles is "dead" is because since the transition to user-submitted reviews, nobody seems to want to write reviews anymore. Given the reception to the average /newstuff review ("You weren't playing it right", or "You forgot to mention [x]", or "I would like someone else to review it because you weren't being fair" among other things), I really don't blame the public at large.
