Re: [GZDoom] Hell-Forged - (on hiatus until August)
I remember the time when i worked on monster designs for freedoom, COMPLETELY different than doom design. It was fun, yeah. But i wonder where are my design went?... Heck if i know.
And yes, i don't think that sprite doesn't belong in freedoom and whatnot.

Re: [GZDoom] Hell-Forged - (on hiatus until August)
At the risk of going off topic, isn't denying the use of assets incompatible with the license that freedoom uses? I was under the impression that for assets to be included in freedoom they had to be free to modify and distribute for any reason, commercial or otherwise as the end goal was a license that compliant with whatever you get with linux distrosSiFi270 wrote:I was mainly wondering because the creator of its current Spider Mastermind sprites doesn't want them to be used any more, amongst others.
Either way, the design is derivative sure, but the base enemy design is not particularly unique and you have deviated pretty far from the design of the original. It's inspired by the mastermind, not a copy of it.
Re: [GZDoom] Hell-Forged - (on hiatus until August)
I've seen people sued for just having a similar silhouette. So I doubt I'd get away with something so derivative, purposeful or not. If IP laws were this lax, someone would have made a doom-rip off decades ago.zrrion the insect wrote:Either way, the design is derivative sure, but the base enemy design is not particularly unique and you have deviated pretty far from the design of the original. My hope is that this fall under the same kind of questionable grey area as the Cacodemon and Pain Elemental is to the Dungeons and Dragons Astral Juggernaut and Beholders. No idea if id Software was sued for that, or if they were liable for lawsuit by D&D but they simply chose not to. I'm fairly certain I would violate IP laws, but I'll ask id software to be certain.

I think technically, that is true, so the Freedom team CAN use it despite the artist's request. But it's common courtesy to respect the original artist's request.

WOW...I love that you gave it blue eyes.Amuscaria wrote:
2 rotations down, slightly less than 6 more to go. This turned out a lot more complex than I anticipated; a lot of small details that requires pixel-editing. Anticipation time to finish is in 6 (free-time) days.
EDIT: Changed the gun from 5-Barrels to 8 because 5 didn't animate right with 2-frames.

I know that ray helped mike12 for his hdoom project, big time. But i'm not sure he's still active and helping mike12 again. His tumblr blog stopped at July 2016.
Re: [GZDoom] Hell-Forged - (on hiatus until August)
The DIrector is mostly finished. Already have the death sequence posed in 3D. Will rip and finish the monster up later today or later in the week, then do the final touch-ups. Moving on to the Behemoth next. Will release the next 3 maps together in the next update as soon as the 3 mid-boss monsters are done. Stay-tuned.

Hoppin' Ey!!!! Amazing work, as i expected! Also its walking animation seems to be more better than vanilla SMM. And i really can't wait for the death animation. That would be awesome.

i download the HF -v06c [check also -v06b]
but (when checking in console) seems a lot of thing is missing textures.
Did I miss something with this mod, to launch it properly

Are you using Doom or Doom 2? You need Doom 2 to run the mod. It looks like you're using Doom 1 or Ultimate Doom. I've added a notice to the front page. Thanks for reminding me.Lagi wrote:i download the HF -v06c [check also -v06b]

Weapon design is top notch.
