Whoa, You’re working on a Mario addon for this too? I was planning one using the stuff from my Mario player replacement mod. How far are you with it? Just out of curiosity.
I may start making an addon to this based on an old MarioDoom.pk3 I had already.
I am having issues with adding MarioDoom.pk3 with The Golden Souls 2. Mario will not just as high as you can without adding MarioDoom.pk3. So it is hard to make some jumps.

Just going to play around with something and I'll post back. I would like this to feel more like a mario game.
Personally, i think you should atleast play it vanilla on your first playthrough, you can play with any mod you want, but i'd totally recommend to do that later

What do you mean? There is a display in each level that shows you the coins you still have to obtain.
I mean, why have the coin counter in the upper part of the screen when all the rest of the info is down, plus the spider counter is broken in 4:3 resolution

Also, no idea if is a bug or just a supa dupa secret but in world 2, close to shop, if u turn left when u r going to the shop, u can go out of the map and leave the "world" but cant go back inside the map

Sorry, since 4:3 aspect ratios are kinda outdated i've never had the chance to test it, i've tested only 16:9, 16:10, 21:9
I'll see if i can fix it in the next patch, for now, i'd suggest you to force the aspect radio to check the amount of gold spiders


The map thing is a bug, will be also fixed in the next patch!

Please spread the word to anyone who's playing GS2: The third coin in silhouette sunset is glitched, you can't get back on the main platform once you get it, please noclip out of it. It will be patched.

Well, you can rocket jump out of it, too, but there's a risk, you will die from that. I literally had 1HP when I got out of that. I guess the platform was meant to go lower.

Heya friendos! You ever find yourself in the middle of playing this great, great mapset and think "Gee willikers, Batandy, this sure is great but man all this blood and death isn't child-friendly! I AM OFFENDED!" ? Well, your best pal iSpook has you covered!

Introducing iSpookulon's patented "Happy mode" patch™™™™, which rips off Samusara's Happygore turns all the dead monsters and the blood they spew into sparkles and happy little sounds when they're Viciously murdered sent back to a Dimension that is full of sunshine and rainbows and glitter rain and all that kid-friendly stuff!

This patch-submod doesn't replace anything but the blood and gore, and is basically child-friendly vanilla goodness! It modifies the vanilla doom monsters, it modifies the GS2 monsters, it modifies the bosses, hard-mode monsters and the other killable things that aren't spooky (which is left for the sake of being spooky, of course!

The player is also happified, and it's recommended that you play with the kill cam option on

Now go off and show those fiends a good, child-friendly time for stealing your rabbit and trying to overtake the world!

Common issue because spook is a dork: Enemies may occasionally produce blood splatters on walls, despite me throwing +noblooddecals on the enemies and the blood itself. Also, it hasn't been entirely tested, so do be a good sport and tell iSpook how dumb he is because he missed something.

Very clever and amazing idea to make the mod even more jolly-happy-friendly for everyone! Well, still some monsters sounds scary like they use to be. Would be amazing to see if they plays some wacky cartoony sfxs! :P

Don't want to make a big stink or anything, just curious where you sourced the Pistol sprite from? That's a sprite I made in like... 2004? and uploaded to the NewDoom forums back when they were a thing. Looks like someone has added some more frames to it, mine was a standard 4-frame affair.

I noticed that I can't pick up more than 1999 coins. is that intentional or a bug?

It's the coin cap, after that any picked up coin will work as a +1 health bonus

No worries, I'd completely forgotten about it myself until I saw the screenshots! I'm pretty humbled to have something I made included in such a cool project.
Luckily someone else on this forum, Turbo, made an edit of the black version of the sprite over here. And they included an archive.org link to the original NewDoom post, which is here.

Can you be more specific with the crab thing? Where on the map did it fail to spawn the coin?

Also the pink blocks should definitely bounce you far, try keeping the up button pressed

It happened on Sunny Seaside. I killed it but never spawned the big coin.

Tried holding the up button but I still fell pretty short.
