Thanks, all. :)

Took some free time today to up the detail on the Director a bit before committing to sprite conversion. Mostly bulked up the legs and other details to make it more imposing.

looking somehow simple yet detailed
i'm guessing that's not a minigun of some kind
will this thing too have multiple attacks?

It has 2 attacks, but basically the same animation. The Director uses a more powerful version of your Mauler - so it shoots 4 nails, or 30 shrapnel. I might give it a stomping attack later on.

2 rotations down, slightly less than 6 more to go. This turned out a lot more complex than I anticipated; a lot of small details that requires pixel-editing. Anticipation time to finish is in 6 (free-time) days.

EDIT: Changed the gun from 5-Barrels to 8 because 5 didn't animate right with 2-frames.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy... is there anything that'd prevent that from being used in FreeDoom once you've made the sprites publicly available? I imagine it'd also look great in Ancient Aliens, since that already uses your Arachnotron sprites.

I'm gonna have to ask Bethesda about that. I don't think I have the legal right to release it under Creative Commons for an obvious derivative design, even if it is from scratch. The Hellduke might be a different story. Will make sure when I finish the sprite set and contact Bethesda/id Software about it.

Besides legal issues regarding what Amuscaria said, I believe the FreeDoom team is trying to stay away from a Doom-like aesthetic.

Yeah, Freedoom doesn't need or want monsters that look too much like in Doom. Being too derivative could open them to legal action...

I was mainly wondering because the creator of its current Spider Mastermind sprites doesn't want them to be used any more, amongst others.
