It's dumb, doesn't really impact the game, and it is annoying. The Revenant will follow you everywhere and nothing can stop it from dooting those lovely doots. The only thing to do is speed through the stages and get as far away from it as possible.

Program it so that it performs the midi track of the level. So, if it's E1M2, it's The Imp Song and, if E2M9, it's Untitled. Double tempo.
