I constantly had difficulties reading Apeirogon's posts in the past. For a native English speaker some of the gibberish Google Translate creates may still be decipherable but I am often completely lost when trying to read them.

As a native English speaker, knowing that he communicates entirely through Google Translate completely explains why I couldn't get any sort of read on him at all and why he struggled with concepts explained to him several times over.

Is Apeirogon Russian? Well, I can speak Russian and I will probably be able to translate better than Google Translate does, lol.

Yes, please do translate what Apeirogon is actually saying before we lose our minds thinking what he really means in the first place.

Because at this rate, we will all end up confused and pissed from such miscommunications.

And I also agree that Google Translate, however decent it can be, tends to screw up translations from time to time.

My advice would be: If you have to use Google Translate, write short, simple sentences. Those tend to come out fine, albeit grammatically mangled on occasion. But Apeirogon's posts suggest he's just entering more complexly structured things and those tend to be translated into incomprehensible gibberish far more frequently.

Yeah, I can say google translate is quite good, when I want to translate short czech senteces. The longer the sentence is, the worse is the translated result.

And russian and czech are both slavic languages. But the russian is little bit different - it doesnt use (I dont know how its called properly in english - its personal verb in czech) word like I, me, and things like that.So it could be really confusing for the translator.

For example, when russsian want to say that he shot something, he would say "(ya) strelyal" without the "ya". That means "(I) shot". The translator is confused without the "I".

Maybe than you explain what exactly " I couldn't get any sort of read on him"? Because receive answer on every second post "My you dont understand... Wait for the translator-telepath" not very nice.

As someone who speaks English and German (at about a 3rd grade level), I can further the Google Translate point. More than 1 word is enough to end up very incorrect, especially grammatically. Not to mention, the problem with cultural translation ("Mir ist kalt" and "Ich bin kalt" both mean "I am cold", but the latter means your SOUL and PERSONALITY is cold, not your skin in relation to temperature. [Graf could back me up on this.] If Google Translate sent the latter, you could really confuse some Germans. I imagine this happens quite frequently with other languages translated in to English, as well.)

You mean I use wrong word in some point of sentence, which, yes, have desired meaning, which I try put in this sentence, but this word usually used with another meaning!?
Like "I shot birds", which commonly means "I shot birds (from gun)", and which I used as "I shot birds (using camera)" instead of "I make photo of birds".

Good catch. Obviously the proper translation for "Mir ist kalt" should be "I feel cold", but Google Translate clearly makes a mess of this, rendering the whole thing incomprehensible, especially for non-native English speakers which need to employ another translation step to make sense of it.
