Fluidsynth demanding on older cpu's?
Fluidsynth demanding on older cpu's?
Have been using synths that require an application installation, which are unreliable in my experience so I tried this. The wiki says it's cpu-demanding but how much so? Too much for one of the later single core p4's?

Back in the day it got heavily criticized for being a CPU hog, but I cannot seem to find any numbers. It got added long after multi-core CPUs became commonplace, though.

I don't know but it will be clearly slower than virtualmidisynth on that machine, just compare.

Randi compared it to the other MIDI synth options that existed back then (like TiMidity) and it was sensibly slower on the single-core laptop it was tested on.
