Look at all the fucks I don't give! Just because it happened to you doesn't mean it will happen to me. Ever heard of a fire extinguisher? Sprinklers? You act like you can't stop a fire.
And who said anything about damaged systems? I already figured out the warning was because of the cheater plug.
Now kindly stop instigating and giving me shit because I do things differently than you or because I take "risks" that you are too afraid to.

Re: Question about UPS's
This turns out scarily the same as the Meltdown discussion.
Bad stuff happens to all people, but very bad stuff tends to happen to careless people a lot more.
And since you are so sure that nothing will happen to you, are you even insured? Logic dictates that someone with an unbroken belief that this won't happen to them might see it as a redundant expense...

Re: Question about UPS's
Oh yes, because it totally can't happen while you're sleeping and burn you to death without you being able to do anything about it.
And this is also ignoring the fact that in quite a bit of the world cheater plugs are illegal. And I'm pretty sure in some or most countries not having grounding in your house is also illegal and against the building codes.
Grow up and stop thinking you're always right.
@Graf
Would it even matter if he has insurance? I imagine most insurances wouldn't give you anything if they found out you burned your house down by violating a law. (In this case, using a cheater plug, as those are usually illegal in most places)

Re: Question about UPS's
Yes, if they find out the fire got started by using illegal hardware it can indeed cause some serious problems to get the thing sorted out, if ever - especially if other people's property also gets damaged in the process.
Re: Question about UPS's
Nevander, if you don't want people to give you proper answers why did you even start this thread?
This thread is likely going nowhere, so the next time a moderator posts would probably be to say how it's going nowhere once more and lock it.
Man, if burning down is a risk you'd take, I'm surprised you're still here. Now kindly stop instigating and giving me shit because I do things differently than you or because I take "risks" that you are too afraid to.

Oh, I don't know, maybe because some of us have actual life experiences where the worst thing that can happen often does?Nevander wrote:Why the fuck do you people always say the worst that can happen as if it's actually definitely going to happen? Have some optimism for fucks sake. This forum is getting depressing these days.
Maybe because we were once arrogant fools, like you, and got burned hard by our own hubris? And learned to be more cautious?
With the way you stubbornly go about life the chances of something bad not happening are almost nil.
It may take a lifetime to recover from a serious calamity. It only takes a few seconds for your life to change. It doesn't take long to avoid it.
And speaking of this, next time I lock a thread that you participated in, Nevander, you're getting a warning, too.Lud wrote:Nevander, if you don't want people to give you proper answers why did you even start this thread?
