[Abandoning]Vanilla as Fuck:Final edit
Re: Vanilla as Fuck! Beta v2
The assault rifle is still a really rare pickup though. You might want to introduce the old zombieman to drop that weapon and have him spawn somewhere.

Re: Vanilla as Fuck! Beta v2
I added one at one of point of VaF early life but I felt like it would conflict with the chaingunner. so the rifle zombie idea was dropped and a rarity weapon drop was put in it's place.Jeimuzu73 wrote:The assault rifle is still a really rare pickup though. Aaaah, I would love a version of this without the custom guns, just with the pretty visual improvements. I really want to make it compatible with Fragtrak.

Updated with the rest of the destroy-able decorations
I'll think about making a pack/addon just with the monsters and stuff.Tapwave wrote:Aaaah, I would love a version of this without the custom guns, just with the pretty visual improvements. I really want to make it compatible with Fragtrak.

Re: Vanilla as Fuck! Beta v4
new update and a new showcase video
Re: Vanilla as Fuck! Beta v4
I like this a lot! Some thoughts:
Weapons feel good, if a little slow. I'm sure they're the same speed as vanilla, but the anims seem to lack snappiness? Mostly the shotguns.
I've blown myself up with the grenade launcher more than I've killed enemies. I think this is a negative but I've laughed every time.
The extra effects are cool, but the bullet and shell casing sprites are kind of....ehhh.
I really, REALLY am not fond of the hell baron's near insta-kill attack. I know it's dodgable but there's lots of factors to take in there, such as the level layout, whether there's room to manuever, etc. It's not fun dying from that, or coming a hair's breadth from death, at full health and armor.
Also, I know it's meant to be a sort of enhanced vanilla experience, but it feels like there should be a bit of a sound overhaul, or at least item pickup sounds.
Overall, good work! Playing through Hellbound with it right now.

Is the fact that the chainsaw doesn't make any sound when it's making contact with an enemy intentional or is that a bug? It makes its normal noise when it's being fired normally but upon making contact with an enemy sprite it just stops making noise.

Re: Vanilla as Fuck! Beta v4
I think the kickback from firing the assault rifle and chaingun could be toned down a bit. For being 'vanilla as fuck' it sure does feel like it throws off the feel and satisfaction of using them.
Re: Vanilla as Fuck! Beta v4
hey cool mod, i was wondering if you could make a pistol reload ala duke nukem 3d (maybe optional idk) i think it wohuld fit in this mod with several of the nice details you added!

Re: Vanilla as Fuck!
Update time!
replaced the Archvile's flame attack with a fire slash projectile.
added toggle-able night-vision aka Infrared when you need it. bonded to the "N" key
added a quick kick. bonded to the "F" key
added more frames to the soul, demon, and, blur spheres. still working on mega!
added "Powerup.Color GoldMap" to demonsphere effects
added a red armor. +150 armor
Fixed the chainsaw drip sound problem.
check first post for the download.
I think that about it for this update.

Re: Vanilla as Fuck!
speaking about dn3d, do you intend on adding near-death states for lower-tier enemies, where they fall on their knees and wiggle their head around in pain?
