Re: Custom Texture Thread.
Looks smooth and amazing! Excellent work!
Re: Custom Texture Thread.
Meh, so I was walking out to my car looking at my driveway and thinking "it really needs to get it fixed" when a second thought popped into my head: "I bet I could make a texture or two out of it". So I took some snaps and... meh!
Own Palette : Doom Palette

They're OK I guess. You can see tiling a bit. They all converted to the Doom palette pretty well. I guess grey is easy.
Demo map.
Step in the teleporter to switch between Paletted texture land and Doom palette land.

Those are really nice, Enjay!
Re: Custom Texture Thread.
Thanks. I *think* it's the first time I've tried to make a texture from a photo that I took myself (could be wrong there) so I think they turned out reasonably well at least.
The first one is just a gravel part of my driveway. The second is part of a stretch of shared driveway that is also supposed to be gravel but years of weeds, moss and compression by cars and it's a bit... well, not very gravelly. The last is another the part of the shared driveway that is meant to be nice, smooth concrete. Yeah, it's been there a while. Maybe since the late 1960s? However, with three different households having rights to the driveway, and no clear, unified motivation for it to be fixed, I don't expect it to get better any time soon.

Let's go on a drive through town, a magical adventure is going down. Find the ones I took through a car window. (There's 2!)

Dump of old attempts at making a new RROCK17 for Freedoom:
128x128 versions for most of the above:
And the bumpmaps for these textures (linked because they're huge):

Awesome! Good-looking cheap way to block off a horizon.
You still updating that master archive? Lots of good stuff since the last one I got.
(Also happy birthday man. )

Oh shucks, yeah. It is just my texture archive zipped up, heh. Due to how many extra textures I've made it'd be insanity to sift through them all and properly rename them and stuff.NeuralStunner wrote:Awesome! Good-looking cheap way to block off a horizon.

Awesome, thanks!
Re: Custom Texture Thread.
I've been fucking around for a week or so, I guess. Big thanks to Cage, Fuzzball and esselfortium all for putting up with me.
These babies are from scratch, my first foray into doing anything of this scale.
Neutron textures permalink (SUPER EARLY WIP; ONLY PNGS INCLUDED, PLEASE DO NOT USE YET. PM me if need be.)
I welcome criticism.

Re: Custom Texture Thread.
Some of those look really cool, especially those with the gradients, but some others look dull, like the large crate textures.

Have I discovered the secret to awesomeness? (The dodge blend mode is your friend)
And the base texture(s) for that one:
------------------------
A truecolour version, and a hi-res version of the new GRATE I just submitted to Freedoom:
Also, the Blender file, and the XYZ functions used to make this model:
And something I forgot to post earlier: a transparent monitor texture.

z(u,v) = .5 * sin(u) + v

This happened- yes they tile horizontally and vertically!
