Just for fun, I tried to run GZDoom 3.1.0 on my digital audio workstation. It's a pretty good machine... but with a shit graphics card.
Intel i7 4770 3.40 GHz
Asus Z87
16 GB DDR3
nvidia 610 GT (!!!)
The reason why it has such a crappy graphics card is because I don't need it for audio work.
The result? The game had trouble maintaining even 60 FPS on stock settings running just Doom.wad.

It was averaging around 50'ish. I also haven't updated the nvidia driver in probably 1.5 years (again, it's a work machine) so perhaps updating the drivers might help. Or it might not; I don't know.
Then of course as I turned on the various graphics candy stuff, the framerate got worse and worse. It's strange how I take this stuff for granted on my gaming machine and I just go to town with the graphics options... which is a MUCH older machine (built in 2010!):
i7 950 3.05 GHz
Asus Rampage 2 Extreme
15 GB DDR3
nvidia GTX 960
I need the CPU processing power of the former machine for audio work though, so this doesn't really bother me. It's just interesting to see how GZDoom actually runs on weaker graphics cards and I can sort of understand what some users experience.
On the audio machine, however - probably due to the strong CPU - the TC software renderer runs blazing fast... faster than my gaming machine. Not surprised.
