C is a commonly used programming language. ACS is based off of it and ZDoom uses it. I've been meaning to learn it .

You should start by not calling it "c scripting" then. Given the precedent of Java and JavaScript (totally different and unrelated beasts), calling something "C script" doesn't imply at all that it's the same thing as C. :P

Usually, people use "code" for programs and "script" for instructions followed by programs. (Though as always it's not as clear-cut every time.) So ACS or QuakeC are scripting language because they are instruction sets for the game engine. C and C++ is code, not script.

Note that ZDoom is in C++, not in C, though there are many leftovers from the original C code of Doom. In most cases, C++ is a superset of C but there are differences between the two languages and some code will not be interpreted in the same way depending on whether it's compiled as C or as C++ code.

@Everyone: Do you guys have any ideas for what the final CyberDemon battle environment should look like? It's gonna be a good-sized level, not just an arena BTW. Still, I don't want to copy the D3 arena area, since it probably won't look too good in Doom, lol. Any ideas whatsoever :?: ?

Something like the Guardian's arena for the Cyberdemon fight would be interesting. I didn't like E2M8 that much because the entire area was too large and symmetrical, it made the cyberdemon too easy to fight if you can strafe at all.

I agree, but I'd like a more dynamic arena. Something with a lot goin' on. Definitely not symmetrical. After all, the arena will be part of a regular level.

Really nice, but what really gets me is that as soon as I kill an Imp or a Pinky, they just burn away, and I don't like it. Do you mind if you make an alternative version where demon corpses don't burn away?

P.S. Can't wait for the final version to come out! :D

Um... I'm not the one who made all of these sprites... Plus, I'd rather keep the burning effect (after all, that's what happened in Doom 3).

They only introduced the burning-away concept to keep the lag of the game down (especially considering how high-tech the game was upon release).

Huh. I didn't know that, but it seems to work for such a Hellish game, lol.

EDIT: I added more to MAP08 (the map that I posted a screenshot of, earlier)! You start out in a dark room with the teleporter and you have to tumble down a sloped waterfall to reach the room with the lava pit!

@Everyone: I'm takin' a bit of a break from my Gears of War TC to get back to DOOM Unleashed's level design! First off, I've added monster closets (surprise doors with monsters behind 'em)!

I've also made modifications to the first room of MAP08 (the one with the teleporter); I won't spoil anything, though!

I recolored the green marble textures brownish - to better suit the look of D3.

I've changed SKY1 (the sky for the first 10-11 levels) with a more detailed one from Strife! I'll also include (with the final release) 2 alternate skies (also from Strife, but their wrapping quality is pretty crappy - nothin' much I can do) that the player can use with my WAD!

I've decided to change the color of the Archivile to grey (so I transferred the Archvile sprites from the "Unused" section of Doom 2.5 to DOOM Unleashed). Don't worry; I gave credit!

One last thing, before I continue mapping - the mini-bosses have been chosen (but I won't tell you which monsters I'm usin')! There will be one on every 2 levels or so. On MAP09, you'll face the real boss - the CyberDemon (as you all know).

EDIT:

@Everyone: The mappin' is going great! To save time (and space), I have split DOOM Unleashed into 2 separate WADs - one for the game (includes menu sounds), and one for the level music only (since these files are 25 MBs total, lol).

@Everyone: GASP! A TRIPLE-POST! Don't get too freaked out; I've uploaded a new trailer for DOOM Unleashed on my YouTube channel!

http://www.youtube.com/user/Blade3327

It's composed entirely of gameplay! You'll see tons of new map areas (including some that I've only posted pictures of), too. I wrote the music, this time around. Rate it, comment, whatever! :D

Well it looks decent from the trailers, but difficult to make out the architecture for example in those small videos. Any chance you could post some screenshots? You could for example use imageshack for it.

Screenshots!? I've slaved over these videos and you want screenshots!? lol; just jokin'...

Screenshots really won't help, unless I put a ton of 'em next to eachother. I could add some later, though. Why not... :)
