2s line unactivatable

Post by Hirogen2 »

Hi,

in the attached sample WAD (modified Doom2 MAP01), the ashwall line can only be activated from one side, from the BRONZE side it can't.

Not a bug! Switch lines cannot be activated from the back side. It has always been that way and should remain so.

Right, it's not a bug, switches only work from the front side.

Right, it has been that way ever since, but what switches are 2-sided? Other than a standard switch on a single-sided line, none would come to mind. What would be the arguments against changing this feature(tm)? If one would really want to have a one-side-activatable line, he could check in a script from which side it was triggered.

lots and lots of switches are on 2s lines, that would be a horrible feature to impliment, if you need it to be activated from the other side then flip the line, or if you need both sides then place another line on the opposite side with the same properties

It would break a lot of old maps (including the Supercharge secret in E2M2) so it is a *very* bad idea. If you absolutely have to put a switch on the second side just place a sidedef in front of it and put the special on that. The result is the same but it won't break anything.

Oh ok, I forgot a "ledge" which a switch on the side, rihgt. Just like in E2M1 near the blood pool.
