Freeze mode across maps.

Postby Enjay » Sat Sep 11, 2021 5:33 pm

I don't know if this is important or not, but I noticed it so I thought I might as well report it.

If you end one map and go to the next while freeze mode is active, GZDoom will not freeze the next level, but the freeze CVAR (if indeed it is a CVAR) is still set.

Steps to reproduce.
  • On Doom2 map01, type "freeze" at the console. The message will read "Freeze mode on".
  • Exit the map and transition to map02 in the normal way. You will see the zombiemen at the start of map02 going through their idle animation, showing that they are not frozen. (Firing a shot confirms as they wake up.)
  • Type "freeze" at the console and the message will read "Freeze mode off" implying that freeze mode had been on until you typed the command, despite the fact that the enemies were not frozen.

I would have expected either the Freeze status to be properly reset to "off" on map transition, or for freeze mode to persist across maps.

Noticed with today's git build, gzdoom-x64-g4.7.0pre-165-g78566c0d5, and confirmed present in 4.6.1. No idea how far back it goes.
