Screwed models

Postby drfrag » Wed Jan 20, 2021 8:51 am

Turns out nobody made a proper report for this. It's a known problem, models are corrupt/incomplete in SoftPoly. This can be seen in BD v21 MAP 15.

Actually those are MD3 models, MD3 models are okay in Genetech tough but the characters slide instead of walking and when they die they stay frozen in mid-air (but that's a different issue). I don't know what's going on with BD models.

I've been trying to understand what could cause this by digging through the code myself, but this... is entirely way too cryptic.

The problems I'm at least well aware of are:
- Models won't animate, ever.
- SurfaceSkins are handled wrong.
- UE1 models get really screwy no matter what (not sure if this one is my fault).

@Erick194 has fixed the MD3 models, i think it's better to open another thread if there are other problems.

Can confirm that the fix extends to UE1 models too. They animate and handle surface skins correctly.
