Black sector gradient color unaffected by dynamic lights

Postby grahf78 » Fri Oct 16, 2020 12:01 am

Black shades of sector special colors do not get lit by dynamic lights, only the whites.

Attached is an example map that uses black floor and wall bottom sector special color to the east, and black sector color (light color, not gradient) to the west. The difference is very noticeable.

Gradients are not light, they are material colors. So a black gradient will result in a black material. This behavior is by design - it is meant to colorize the environment, not to light it. If done differently, imagine a room where everything is blue, but any light source in there would totally break the illusion and make the real color of the texture come through.
