HIRES doesn't work with VILE\* frames

I know that the character \ can't be used in a pk3, but the wiki says to use the carat character (^) as an engine replacement. But the HIRES folder is unable to look for a file named VILE^1 and replace the original Doom sprite. This seems like an oversight.
