Unknown Black Bars on Soundless Mound

Post by Rachael »

This looks to be a possible shader error - however it has never happened before. It only happens at certain angles. I've tried the best I could to replicate my test environment *exactly* in order to demonstrate this error. Due to this, I cannot publicly post the materials despite them all being publicly available as it would constitute warez, so I am going to send the materials privately to the developers.

This seems to happen on lines with a horizon.

This happens both with nVidia 860M and with Intel HD 4600.

No problems here. But that configuration you included - ouch! I couldn't do much with something this strangely configured...

If you aren't seeing it, try panning the view around a bit with your own configuration. The save game was set to a certain resolution.

It could be the multisample, it could be the texture settings - I don't know - that's why I threw in the whole kitchen sink for testing this.

It does happen on two separate GPU's, though.

Can you pull and retry? I discovered an issue with horizons in the uniformbuffers branch two weeks ago and backported that to master now. Maybe this is the rare case when it strikes.

For what it's worth, it seems to be a shader error of some sort, because entire sections of the screen get blacked out when this bug triggers. Even if the console is over the top of it (the letters will still draw fine, but the transparent parts won't). I remember having similar problems when I had shaders that did divide by zero.

I had that black bar/square issues when playing certain GZDoom maps in my AMD GPU. My NVidia laptop seems to work perfectly fine with such maps. Even the 2D portions of the screen would get blacked out.

Seems like the bars go away if you switch to radial fog.

So that's why I didn't see it...

Fixed - I think. At least, with this commit, the problem is completely gone from what I've seen.
