Coloring things directly doesn't always work(?)

Post by Fishytza »

Tested with GZDoom 3.1.0 and GZDoom g3.2pre-392-g49b77f3

I'm not entirely sure if this is actually a bug, but it seems strange that the same color that can be applied to things from a sector (sector "Colors" tab in GZDB) can't be set on the thing directly (thing "Action / Tag / Misc" tab) unless that thing's renderstyle is stencil or shaded.

EDIT: Attachment removed.

In this test map, the tree on the right gets its (green - 00FF00) color from the sector. The left one is supposed to have the same color (It's set directly on the thing) but doesn't.

You can't change the color of a thing outside of those render styles unless it's an actual translation. See here for details.

So why does it work when the color comes from a sector?
Nevermind. I feel like asking anything at this point would be futile.
