You would have to make a custom script for that, but it just might work!!

There's already a door in the map I'm working on that requires 8 keys to open...

I propose this approach: keys act like inventory items. Future scenarios are posible where Doomguy might have to stick 3 blue keys into a door so that it opens. And if a WAD happens to be a jokemap, then the max inventory value of 25 kicks in.
