you seem to start in the ground in map04 of hell factory. obviously, this didn't happen in earlier versions. looking at the wad, i can't see why it would act as such.

The map has a buggy BSP tree that causes that exact point where the player starts to be in sector 579 instead of sector 0. The best way to fix this is to rebuild the nodes (or use gennodes 1 and let ZDoom do it for you).
