Texture Edit Request

Post by Enjay »

Would anyone be able to edit this texture:
Image

So that it could be used alongside SHAWN2 textures and not look out of place?

Here is my attempt:
Image
It's not bad but it could probably be better and I'm struggling to make it so.

I tried lol, looks very similar to your try, except a bit brighter I guess? it tiles a bit better with SHAWN now I think

Yes, that is better. Definitely closer to the SHAWN appearance. Thank you. :)

[edit]That comment was just me looking at it from work. Now that I'm home and can compare it properly, you really have done a good job of getting its lightness/darkness levels to be very close to that of the SHAWN texture. Thanks again. [/edit]

I know this isn't what you were looking for, but might still work. Yes, I just added the silver structures over your textures.

Here's my attempt:

Lineup comparison: base texture, your combo, my version, shawn2, my combo again, Craneo's combo, shawn2 again.

It blends better with the light levels of the SHAWN2 base textures while retaining the desired pattern.

All very useful stuff. Thank you very much one and all. I'll probably end up using most of these. :thumb:

Aaaand, while I'm on, I wonder if anyone can do anything with this flat:

Image :?:

The problem? because of its shading/highlighting it looks like the central circle is sunk into the floor from some angles but, as you walk around it, it looks raised up instead:

Image

If at all possible, I'd like it to look sunken from all angles. I've tried to address it myself but everything I do just ends up looking flat and featureless. It may simply not be possible to do this because, without shading/highlighting, I don't know how it could look 3D-ish anyway. However, if someone has any inspired ideas, I'd really appreciate a "fixed" version of the flat.

How does something like this look like in a flat?

Image

How, I figure the warning strip bar is supposed to be recessed, not raised.

Attempt #2:

Super simple edit (copy pasting and pushing pixels) but the idea might work as a base. The problem with your image is that it behaves as one of these famous "Gestalt psychology" pictures.

Thanks. :D

I'll try those in game and see how they work out. They all seem to do the job quite nicely in the forum view at least.

I'm not sure how that would look on long sections of wall, but it might work in areas where things are transitioning from SHAWN2 to one of the others from Gez or on a short bit of wall or a recessed 128x128 frame or something. Thank you.

What kind of textures?

Edit: Sorry. I mean what do you mean by 'stove' textures? Like a single 64×64 texture for each side of a commerical kitchen stove?
