I always imagined the Icon of Sin to be like Maledict from Doom 3 (final boss of the expansion Resurrection of Evil) if it were to be made into a real enemy.

that looks awesome, everytime I see the icon at the end of doom2 in the wall I imagine that it walks around on all fours with a hunch much like a muscley meaty bull for some reason.

EarthQuake over on Doomworld edited the Icon textures to remove the hole and machinery. In the same thread was posted a scan of a phone card from the Id Anthology pack with a similarly hole-free Icon, and if that's not high-res enough, you can get a bigger better-er one from the Id Anthology's "Book of Id" cover (albeit inverted and with a lot of grungy overlaying).

Quake III Arena also has a couple of textures incorporating our old friend, here they are:

Unfortunately, the mediocre-quality JPEGs are all there are. :(

I made a static version years ago, that later got used on zendynamics. You can get it here.

It used as a base a picture from Edmundo Bourdeau, one of the best drawings of this monsters if you ask me

The link I posted is a small wad (100 kb or so) that contains the sprites and a two rooms map to test it. Xaser later added some extra frames for his mod but you have to download the whole mod to test it.
