Struggling with the sv_weaponstay

Really struggling with the sv_weaponstay flag.

Trying to set up a deathmatch in GZDOOM 4.5 and I want weapons to disappear (and later respawn).
Whatever I read it says that this is normal behaviour for Deathmach.

But I cannot seem to get that configured correctly.

This is my current commandline:
gzdoom.exe -host 1 -config config.ini -warp 1 -timer 8 -deathmatch -nomonsters +colorset 3 +name bagware +sv_weaponstay 0 +sv_noexit 1
(No changes in config except bindings)

I have also tried with toggling dmflags 4, which should do the same thing, but to no avail.

Once in the game, I'm always met by this in the console:
sv_weaponstay:
Weapons stay
"sv_weaponstay" is "true" (default: "false")

When toggling sv_weaponstay in the console all is good... but I need to do it when launching the game.

What am I missing?

The -deathmatch might be overriding your +sv_weaponstay - try doing it as +deathmatch 1 instead.
