[Ubuntu]GZDoom 4.5.0 crashes when hardware renderer selected

When you select Hardware Renderer as the renderer for GZDoom, then start a level, the game crashes with a fatal error

Compile Shader 'shaders/pp/shadowmap.fp':
0:23(29): error: syntax error, unexpected NEW_IDENTIFIER
