Linear interpolation now sounds almost like No interpolation

Postby lafoxxx » Sun Oct 25, 2020 6:11 am

Hi.
GZdoom 4.4.2
OpenAL on Creative X-Fi Titanium, 44100 Hz.

I always used "Linear" interpolation before and the game sounded as it should for me.
Now it sounds more "crispy" -- almost like there's no interpolation, forcing me to use Cubic mode, which I don't like.

Tested in previous version (3.x.x -- don't remember since it's already erased -- but I elieve it was 3.7.2) -- problem is resolved (but https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=63807 appears).

I don't know what version GZDoom 3.7.2 released with, but nothing's changed with OpenAL Soft's linear resampler. I'd first check that they're both using the same device (when starting up, the console should display the audio device name which should have "OpenAL Soft on ..."; if one is missing the "OpenAL Soft" part, it's using a different driver). Running "snd_status" in the in-game console should also give a bit more information about the sound with each version.
