Yes, I thought about the same thing after posting regarding it being an upstream issue.
I haven't tried compiling lzdoom, but did compile gzdoom 4.4.2 recently. It was still crashing the same way, with segfault at exit. Haven't bothered compiling LZDoom. On this version of Ubuntu, there's a bit of workaround necessary around libfluidsynth; basically I had to lift libfluidsynth1 binary and dev packages from 18.04 and install them (20.04 no longer has v1 of that library). It was linking just fine, and the game run but it would crash when the music gets looped.
