GZDoom 4.4.2 & LZDoom 3.86a crash on exit [SOLVED]

Postby bLUEbYTE » Fri Jul 24, 2020 5:15 am

I guess this is not that big of a deal because fortunately the crash happens at the game exit. LZDoom is installed from the official deb package.
I was getting the same kind of crash with GZDoom 4.4.2 Linux .deb. Running on Kubuntu 20.04.
Crash log attached.

If GZDoom crashes as well then it's not a LZDoom bug, and it crashes in system code. Have you tried to compile it yourself?

Yes, I thought about the same thing after posting regarding it being an upstream issue.

I haven't tried compiling lzdoom, but did compile gzdoom 4.4.2 recently. It was still crashing the same way, with segfault at exit. Haven't bothered compiling LZDoom. On this version of Ubuntu, there's a bit of workaround necessary around libfluidsynth; basically I had to lift libfluidsynth1 binary and dev packages from 18.04 and install them (20.04 no longer has v1 of that library). It was linking just fine, and the game run but it would crash when the music gets looped.

AFAIK now both work with FluidSynth 2.x and if not you can select another midi device.

I have narrowed down the crash-at-exit to fullscrn_huds.pk3. I upgraded it to latest (5.1.7) and the crash does not happen any more. Feel free to close this thread.

Technical issues threads are not closed. That was a known issue with that mod.
