lzdoom takes forever to load

so when I try and start a new game get in the intermission screen and go to the next map it takes like 30 seconds to load anyone know why

Generally, it's one of very few things: Slow hard drive, not enough RAM, very slow CPU, or a combination of these.

Any number of other things, too, for that matter. There's just not enough info here.

What are the full specs of your machine (CPU, RAM, storage type, OS, video hardware)? Can you post your lzdoom.ini here?

Don't forget high texture scale settings. Those can also inflate the level load time a lot.

To put in comparison:
My ancient rig (Athlon X2, 3 GB RAM, Geforce 6150) and 500 GB HDD loads this in 1-2 seconds. A large map in 3, in OpenGL.

So i wonder what OP's rig is.
