I've made a video comparing two versions using heavy graphical mods for Doom (Doom Remake and Honte Remastered, links are on youtube). I have i7 990x and gtx 1070.
3.7.2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lm7XSdigSbE
4.0.0: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxTmrroHSMQ
As you can see the performance is significantly worse in 4.0.0. I also tested 4.1.0 and it works as bad as 4.0.0 both OpenGL and Vulkan mode and in Vulkan mode there're glitches - dynamic lights and textures time to time dissapear and the huge maps in Honte Remastered mappack.
4.0 and 4.1 much slower than 3.7.2

Contrary to popular belief, we are not all-knowing-all-seeing magical beings!
If you want help you're going to have to provide lots of info. Like what is your hardware, what is your operating system, what version of GZDoom/LZDoom/whatever you're using, what mods you're loading, how you're loading it, what you've already tried for fixing the problem, and anything else that is even remotely relevant to the problem.
We can't magically figure out what it is if you're going to be vague, and if we feel like you're just wasting our time with guessing games we will act like that's what you're really doing and won't help you.

Please check your video settings. It has been reported before that on some systems 4.x may pick up some inappropriate settings, e.g. setting a too high value for multisampling. This can easily kill performance. Best delete your gzdoom INI and try again if this brings back performance.
Also, what graphics hardware are you using?
