I ran QZDoom and it works fine. It actually works and looks better than when I had GZDoom working, so I might just have to use that (might not be able to run some mods though, like Blade of Agony). But yeah I haven't tried too many other games. Runescape is actually having problems now too, it was working but now there are models that are completely black and I had to turn terrain blending on and off.

Question: What happens when you rename GZDoom.exe to something else, like QZDoom.exe, without it actually being QZDoom?

I suspect there may be some driver-enforced compatibility settings being enforced that don't make sense.

Well, gosh-darn-it you're right because that actually worked. Never would have thought of that.

That actually fixed everything, even running ZDL! :D

Maybe that's the cause for a few other recent problems. If a driver checks an executable's name but said program changes how it works (and 3.5.0 did that!) it may cause all sorts of weird issues.

Why is it, that so many people still have NO graphic cards? At least in germany I dont know anyone who even tried to use such bad onboard graphics.
Do you get less money in other countries? is hardware more expensive in other countries? I really am curious about it and really wonders me.

It should be pretty obvious that a computer for gaming the most important device next to cpu is the gpu. So I really wonder why you even consider to use a computer for gaming with NO graphic card in it?

Can someone clear me up here? :|

Depending on the country, hardware can become very expensive. Here where i live a GTX 1080TI can be more expensive than a second hand motorcycle.

Believe it or not, the recent survey even had one user reporting a Geforce 5200!
Yes, correct, that card is 15 years old by now and by far the worst performing hardware in existence for which an OpenGL 2 driver existed.
It needs no saying that this is barely capable of running vanilla maps at 30 fps, but that one person still used it.

That being said, I can understand why you are confused. But there's really a lot of users which have some weak integrated graphics solution that maybe can run vanilla-complexity levels at acceptable frame rates but would already tank to slideshow levels on some more demanding Boom maps like P:AR.

My rough estimate says that probably 30% of GZDoom's users have hardware that cannot render a high detail Boom map at 60 fps and 10-15% which have hardware weak enough that they cannot run vanilla maps with basic effects, like dynamic lights, enabled at 60 fps, probably a third of these cannot run the game above 35 fps at all.

On the upside, we also got roughly 50% of users which can run the game at full performance if the more costly effects are disabled - 35% of these should be able to run the game with all effects on.

Yes, and yes. Germany is probably one of the least poor countries out there.
I, myself, am struggling to get money to buy a laptop with a good graphics card.

Many older games (from the 90s / early 2000s) actually run much better than GZDoom, so you can use a weak computer for retro gaming. :)

And don't say "NO graphic card". Integrated GPUs are graphics cards, too!

No. They are graphics processing units but no graphics CARDS!

Oh, I didn't know that. I thought GPUs and graphics cards are synonyms.

Many people use them synonymously, but a card is a separate item you plug into a slot on your mainboard. The integrated GPU is part of your main processor.

Sure they are not graphics cards. Technically it's called integrated graphics or integrated video but usually they are called "graphics cards" anyway.

Here in spain unemployment rate is very high and also many people have temporary jobs, you are hired only for hours or weeks and then fired and contracted again so a common salary is 400€ per month. Also electricity is expensive and you need that to use the graphics card. Buying food is more important too. A low end graphics card costs 40€ and a cheap laptop over 200 but that's half the salary for many.

Okay so Windows did an update and now it's back to ultra lag. Renaming it doesn't work.
Maybe I just need to get a graphics card, but that requires some money saving.

The question I had asked before was part of a troubleshooting step, it was never meant to be an actual solution. At any rate, now we know your driver is fucky and hacky, so the trick is to update to a driver that's not quite so fucky. So the big question then is - what happens if you update your GPU drivers?

If you are on a laptop, you may have to try both your vendor's drivers and Intel's own drivers to see which work better.

Unfortunately, I cannot consciously recommend not using vendor drivers but they get so out of date that it's almost not even worth considering them. Vendors are REALLY bad with keeping things up to date.

(From my own personal experience, I have a Lenovo Y50-70, which has a NVidia 860M and Intel HD 4600 - if I do not use NVidia's and Intel's own drivers, my system is at least 6 months behind in driver updates and this results in a whole host of issues. But using raw NVidia and Intel drivers, while risky, usually results in a more stable system, for me).

To be blunt, if I got a laptop where I can't use the up-to-date drivers of the GPU manufacturer, I'd return it as faulty. The last two laptops I used had no issues, though. They didn't contain any messy features that required broken OEM drivers.
