Contrary to popular belief, we are not all-knowing-all-seeing magical beings!

If you want help you're going to have to provide lots of info. Like what is your hardware, what is your operating system, what version of GZDoom/LZDoom/whatever you're using, what mods you're loading, how you're loading it, what you've already tried for fixing the problem, and anything else that is even remotely relevant to the problem.

We can't magically figure out what it is if you're going to be vague, and if we feel like you're just wasting our time with guessing games we will act like that's what you're really doing and won't help you.

Brutal Doom v20 has a typo which slipped through lax checking in the old code parser. You can either wait for SgtMk4 to release a new Brutal Doom, or try an older version of GZDoom (I'm not sure how far back).

If you're trying to play something else, make sure to take Brutal Doom off autoload to avoid compatibility issues.

GZDoom is not Brutal Doom. GZDoom works fine.

If you want to play Brutal Doom v20, you need to wait for Mark, find a patch which fixes the code (recommended, someone on moddb probably has one) or try an older version of GZDoom (not recommended). Whichever works best for you.

I find it somewhat puzzling that this broken version ofd Brutal Doom is still around.

But...would a "patch" loaded like this actually stop the syntax error from happening?

Yes. The error is in an included file and the patch replaces that. This not being a core lump the override is legal.
