No doubt if you came to this topic you're wondering just what in the heck happened to the editing forum.
Yes - it has been split.
Yes - the majority of megathreads have been closed.
This is all done to actually help people to get - well, you know, help.
The splitting was done in order to prevent pending topics from washing right off into page 2 quickly. The new subforum set is categorized to hopefully allow people to ask questions and not have to worry about their topic being unnoticed and unanswered.
The megathreads were closed for exactly the same reason. The issue the megathreads had was that people kept posting questions in them, but because 10 other people had questions they never got a response, and were often ignored.
The original intent of the megathreads was to ask simple questions that did not warrant an entire topic. Well - from me to you guys, I would encourage you to open a topic from now on - no matter how "minor" you think your issue is. If you think it's minor, someone else might think it's important and want to see what the answer to your question is. No matter how minor your issue is, it's still an issue and I'd like to help you see it get resolved, rather than completely ignored as was happening in the megathreads.
So - that's why the old editing forum was archived, and why the megathreads are now closed. I'm hoping that by doing this, people can get some actual help, now! And it also affords knowledgeable folks the opportunity to see what others actually do still need help with.
