New Bug Tracking System Installed (Defunct)

Post by wildweasel »

If you've come to the ZDoom Forums to report a bug for either GZDoom or QZDoom, you might have noticed that the Bugs and Feature Suggestions forums are now missing. Shock! Actually, they're not missing, but they are currently tucked away into a little niche at the bottom of the forum, as they are in the process of being phased out.

That's because we have a new bug tracker! Eruanna and Graf Zahl have been working together to install MantisBT on the ZDoom website, a purpose-built bug tracker with all kinds of helpful features to make reporting, assigning, handling, and categorizing bugs much smoother than it has traditionally been.

The new ZDoom Bug Tracker can be found here, or by following the [Bugs & Suggestions] link that is currently anchored beneath the ZDoom News forum.

Please report any issues with the bug tracker...using the bug tracker, or by sending a PM to Eruanna.

(Edit by Eruanna: If you have any further issues, suggestions, or requests, please put them on the tracker if possible under the "ZDoom.org" project - it would be very helpful, thanks!)

(Another edit by Eruanna):

This issue is being tracked here: https://mantis.zdoom.org/view.php?id=42

Note that, currently, guests can browse issues but cannot post. However, signing up literally takes less than a minute!

Is there no "GZDoom version" field in the bug reporting page or I just don't see it?
Also why are there GZDoom (OpenGL) and QZDoom (Software) categories? Are playsim bugs going to GZDoom or QZDoom? QZDoom is the new upstream? If not, why is GZDoom project named in a way that suggests that it's OGL-only?

I marked (OpenGL) and (Software) to differentiate between GZDoom and QZDoom. Because - count the number of QZDoom's in this list:
Spoiler:
If that's a pain in the butt, you know why I added the () things on them. I am open to suggestions in improving them, though.

I got an extension to enable BBCode on the tracker. Including

Code: Select all

. Should make it a little easier to use, now. :)

Still on the to-do list is some form of phpBB integration (although already a number of people have registered), and skin choices. Also having some jump-links so you can visit the forum, homepage, and wiki from the tracker.

Maybe "GZDoom (general)" and "QZDoom (software)"?

Speaking of registration, the confirmation email seems to be horribly broken up to the point where I have to manually replace & with & in the link in order to proceed.
Not sure if it only happens to gmail.

You may have to report that to gmail.

Works just fine on .... (ugh!!!) Yahoo...

I changed it to "GZDoom (All)" - it's very important that it doesn't look like QZDoom, and that actually seemed to do the trick.

I don't think it's a gmail issue since other HTML emails work correctly.
It's probably something about the HTML structure in these particular templates.
Watched bugs notifications that are sent to email have this problem too.

Quick question: Are forum-related feature suggestions (e.g. this thread) appropriate to post on Mantis under the "zdoom.org" project? It's something people kinda "just did" with the bug/suggestion forums in the past, but assumptions are ass. :P

That would be preferred, yes. That is why they are there.

I didn't have this problem though. Searching the MantisBT tracker didn't find any similar problems.

Although I don't generally use the gmail web interface to read my mail, I do use a gmail account and read it in MS Outlook. The tracker emails and pretty messed up for me too:
