Doom 3 for Doom Textures Replacer [v4 - 9/04/22]

Hello, in the past few days I started working on replacing the Doom 1/2 textures with Doom 3 ones, they are truecolor but low res (same res as the vanilla textures in fact), and should work with some mapsets, it replaces all vanilla Doom 1, 2 and Final Doom textures plus a few more PWAD ones such as SIGIL's, and it should work as a Zandronum skin folder autoload pk3 file.

The pack is not necesarily final and I may come back to it in the future, with more updates like tweaks and more PWAD support

Changelog for v4:
- first and foremost, finally implemented TNT patch replacements
- added support for a few more PWADs (Ultimate Doom 2, Hellbound, Going Down, Hellevator)
- replaced the old pack skies in Plutonia (SKY2 and SK3), SIGIL and Doom 2 Dark World
- the next patches have been changed: RW21_5, DOOR15_3, COMP02_6, RW28_2, RW6_1, most of the meat patches, all of the compblue patches, most metallic base stuff, the greenrock patches, and Plutonia's MARBLE1 patch
- the next flats have been changed: the computer CONS flats, all small GATE flats, FLOOR1_1 and it's related flats, GRNROCK, FLAT5_1, CEIL5_1 and the SNAKEFLOOR flats (see: meat patches)
- included a bunch of higher-res versions (non-downscaled) of my Doom 3 texture edits for mappers to use in their own projects, be they classic Doom related or Doom 3 mods
- updated the paletted, non-truecolor .wad version for other ports with all the changes above, included the skies again, and added in a custom palette to it

Recommended optional mods to play with:
- Liquids Texturepack (if you can run it that is)
- or alternatively, Rachael's fluids mod, which will smoothen the already provided liquid textures from D3
- any mod that makes flats glow (it looks nice!)
- Saegiru's fog mod (I'll recommend setting the fog to be reddish since all skyboxes in this texturepack are orange or red in color)
- ACES tonemap
- Steve's Flashlight, specially if you lower the light settings
- or alternatviely, DarkDoom

if anyone feels like making brightmaps or PBR for this pack, go ahead! I have no plans to do it myself but if someone feels like doing so it's appreciated.

v2 has been released and with it some tweaks and fixes as well as textures for the Plutonia Experiment support, not fully tested but they should work.

I was thinking if I should add a poll on whenever or not I should add support for some PWADs too, since I am unsure on how "allowed" it would be (I had in mind adding support for Doom 2 Dark World, for example).

I really liked this texture pack. I added it to my website and recorded a video with it to make the post more complete. I did the same with EGYPT for Doom, btw.

Brett, that looks pretty cool! more dark texturepacks for Doom is always welcome!
and Facinora, thanks! may want to update the showcase thought as I went and recolored all wood textures since the old ones stood out too much and were too colorful.

for v2.1 I changed one of the Plutonia textures that didn't tile too well, and recolored all the wood textures to be darker, now they feel more "creepy" in levels I feel.

I'll record more videos with it. people seem to be liking it and I liked it myself. that was just a preliminary exploration of the mod anyway. good job!

I'm really impressed with this texture set. Bang up excellent job. I'm going to have to test this on some other maps to see how cool they look.

I am using ZDL luncher to play doom modes.Do i load this in IWADS section or External files section?

External files, it isn't a IWAD or anything, just a retexture mod

New update released, mostly minor changes, but generally nice I guess.
changelog for Doom 3 textures for Doom 1/2 3.1
- new tech switch textures, no more confusing and generic switches
- changed COMP flats, TOMW2 wall patch and DOOR2_1 door patch to better fit with the SHAWN textures surrounding them
- changed the PAN- texture set's green/brown panel textures

I'm still debating whenever or not I can do TNT support since a lot of it's textures seem to be hard to replicate

changelog for Doom 3 textures for Doom 1/2 3.2
- restored the "grass" into being grass and not sand/dirt
- changed the TOMW2 wall patches... AGAIN, this time to try to make the screens fit in with the original's dimensions
- changed the PAN- patches... AGAIN, this time to make the detailing in the wood stand out more, as before it was kinda blurry
- extended the bossbrain lava texture so that it can work with wads that use it as a lavafall
- added Icon of Sin patches
- added the Wolfenstein 3D patches (MAP31, MAP32)
- replaced the old REDROCK patches with imho more fitting ones
- now the zip includes a paletted, .wad format version of the pack (not confirmed to work on non-ZDoom ports thought)

the palette version works pretty finely with other ports
first one is Woof! (doom 1), second one is Dsda Doom with opengl rendering (doom 2) and the last one is chocolate doom (plutonia)
