[REL/FINAL] GZDoom-GPL 2.4 - now with software renderer

Projects that have specifically been abandoned or considered "dead" get moved here, so people will quit bumping them. If your project has wound up here and it should not be, contact a moderator to have it moved back to the land of the living.

The flat sprites are currently under progress of re-implementation; they will most probably return to GZDoom-GPL soon... sorry for the temporary inconvenience!

Oh it looks like the feature has been reinstated. Check the latest devbuild of GZDoom-GPL and let me know if it works. =)

Major Cooke pushed some fixes upstream, it's re-compiling right now, check back in like an hour from this post. In the mean time, while waiting, can you see if this information by MC helps? --> http://forum.drdteam.org/viewtopic.php? ... =15#p60648

Otherwise just try the new build later; I can confirm that the flat sprites work correctly in my custom game.

Thank you very much) I'll wait for the workers flat sprites, it's not a problem)

Nash, can I ask you about some function?
I do not know whether it makes sense to create suggestions, sorely lacking function that can block one button not only in the ACS but also in keykonf. Such a function is difficult to realized?

GZDoom-GPL will not add any new features that's not in GZDoom, sorry. XD You should ask ZDoom/GZDoom for new features...

Probably will never happen because of the whole "no new features" thing, and while this isn't a request for something completely new, it would be interesting if you tried to reimplement the software renderer using either Cardboard or Odamex as a base, and try to recreate ZDoom's Software rendering functionality without using any of its code.

If ZDoom gets an alternative software renderer plugged in, then sure; GZDoom-GPL will have it. Otherwise, I don't have the skill nor the interest to do it, sorry. :)

In other news: I'm preparing for an official tagged release but that damn real-life thing is in the way. :S Probably this weekend or next week.

The feature has already been in there since 18th September (the last build I uploaded). If you're still having trouble getting it to work, make a test mod for doom2.wad which contains a simple flat sprite actor to test the feature.

Additionally, I already linked you to this but read this in case you missed it - http://forum.drdteam.org/viewtopic.php? ... =15#p60648 - there have been some implementation changes from when the flat sprite code got removed and then re-added recently.

I'm bumping this topic to ask if you guys would consider putting out a GPL version of the 32 bit compatible GZDoom build. It would be favorable to distribute both 32b and 64b versions of a game, as I still know many people who are using 32 bit Windows.

The 32 bit builds have always been there. What are you talking about?
