Since this is "online" is there any hope of it being Skulltag compatible? That's where most of the online ZDoom players end up, and I would love to play this online btw. Reminds me of that spacedie wad I made eons ago. :)

I'm not sure about Skulltag compatibility, it depends on if everything from the Zdoom/Gzdoom version will be compatible. Though this would be the best "multiplayer" port for online play. I'm happy with what progress I've made so far, but its no where close to my vision for this project... I'm tackled every obstacle except for 3d models, which if used will only be for architecture. I am having some minor issues with AvM, which hopefully can be addressed. I will post more about that later....

Yes, there will be a Radar. It wouldn't be a very good Aliens game without one!

Just wanted to show off some of the new textures, nothing is final yet. My feelings are mixed at the moment, I'm generally happy with many of the textures so far. But they are still only slightly above standard "doom quality". They look fine in that respect, but I'm hoping for much sharper images as this project progresses to contrast better with the new sprites..... I could "rough up" the sprites a bit, but then I'd lose some of the finer details..... :(

Special thanks to Eurospriter for the screens bellow. This will only look familiar "AO" veterans. I'm very excited that so many people have "jumped" on board to help with this project. By the end of it, I think everyone will be happy. Including old and new fans of Aliens Online.

Minor changes, please ignore any mis-aligned textures:

Any comments? I think the overall look is very fitting for an Aliens game. :)

So far I love the screenshots. So far it looks very faithful to the IP graphically. It appears you've put a lot of thought into this.

I could not be any happier with the positive feedback so far. It fuels my motivation to keep things going. I feel the love, despite being the new kid on the block sort of speak... I've always loved doom, but lacked the necessary skill or experience to pull of a project like this. My success in part is due to my failures... After many long hours struggling around a .wad file since 2002. <3 I finally came out of my shell. It's a good feeling when people like what your doing. :P

Yes, I've spent a lot of time researching, and studying what kind of art would be appropriate for a game set in the Aliens universe. My sources include many of the original Aliens comics, and newer ones such as Aliens: Stronghold. Also after watching Aliens every night, for about a month.... I've become pretty adept at spotting textures with my camcorder. At first I was worried that the low resolution of the video would affect the quality of my work, at least for now the grittyness has helped instead of hindering... The textures will look better once I convert them to .png's. The doom palette has been kind to most of my textures, but not all..... I've yet to work out a palette hack, one thing I was stressing over was compatibility with the "software renderer". I want to make "AvM" able to be played on a variety of PC's and source ports. I myself prefer the original renderer over the ports that smooth over everything... If anyone cares to know, I make my textures with Paint, Image Anaylzer, and a version of Corel Draw from 1997 meant for Win95. I'm rather annoyed that I wasted $200 on editing software I've yet had a need to use! Photoshop is in my arsenal, but I've hardly have a use for it for other than touching up sprites.

One last thing..... If you like what you see so far, I'm just getting started. :)
3d floors, dynamic lighting, and even some 3d architecture are in the works. Soon as I have time to do it, lol!
My texture file just hit 213 files, so I'm holding back some good stuff..... hehe!
The new sprites will make people droooooool.
