This is a slightly silly monster replacement set for Doom 1/2 replacing all the standard roster with various goons/thugs and criminals up to and including some of Marvels heavy hitters (Drawn entirely in majestic MSpaint)

I'm currently working on making Doom style civilian's and goons for people to use in modern mods. This is not that content sorry!
When starting out modding I made a full Punisher gameplay mod together with my son, I can't release that as its a uncredited, hodgepodge hitscan mess (Like most peoples early mod attempts :D ). But I've been playing lots of nifty modern weapon mods lately and felt we really needed is a full (non demon )enemy replacement set.

So I figured why not pull out all my sprites/the sounds and slap in some tracers/projectiles and see what I got.. and boom here we are!
This is (if you lower your expectations) surprisingly enjoyable especially with the right weapon set!

GOING TO HAVE TO SLAP A NSFW WARNING ON HERE JUST INCASE. One of the hostages is a nude man, you don't actually see anything besides a nude bum and its super silly but better to be safe then sorry. will happily remove this is people find it too offensive.

POSSIBLE FUTURE ADDONS.
-figure out what to do with freed hostages
-possibility to switch from good cop/bad cop to arrest/kill surrendered enemies
-full rotations maybe
-combine Punisher and Carcer replacers into one massive replacer
-Currently working on weapons mod to go with both of these.

Updated this with a couple of minor tweaks for more enjoyability.
-Enemies now have blood on them when dead, minor change but feels bit better
-all mobile enemies have directional sprites on spawn (no more lookallaround needed) you can now surprise even boss tier enemies.

I'm liking this so far!
I'm not bothered by the toony style, but what you said about it not being for everyone, I don't think any art style is really "for everyone."
Some prefer classic doom's original demon designs, Some prefer new doom's nightmarish redesigns.

Having the bad guys randomly surrender is a great touch! It's nice to be merciful every so often. Maybe sometime down the road, there can be a "bust" mechanic, like in NARC.

Overall, a solid project so far. Keep the good work up!

Something like this is probably going to happen. Started doing this, all gang members done All done!
Already figured out simple way of doing it, just testing out if they should drop a item or not/fade away/display a message etc.
It might sound dumb but I don't want to reward/punish people either way, just give them the choice.

EDIT*2
-Started implementing arrest system for surrendering enemies gang members done, rest on way.
Implemented arrest system for all surrendering enemies (Hit USE key to cuff them).No reward for this but feels better them leaving them unsecured.
-fixed sprite issues with gang member having double up.

This is actually silly good fun. Thanks as I hadn't thought of this :) (ultra crispy is still my main goto).

ALSO UPDATED MAIN POST WITH CURRENT VERSION.
-all pistol enemies now have weapons in hands at all times, no more draw/holster when shooting
-couple of sprite minor sprite fixes
-also added couple of guys/rebalanced the Baron spawns as Rhino turned up way to much.

Currently working on a extra expansion/addon (don't know yet) with whole bunch of guys from a pretty specific setting
-got a bunch more wildcards in the expansion that I'm considering folding into the main file
-considering doing full rotations(4/5/8) for enemies as drawing in this style is super fast and got enough bases to get it done but unsure if its necessary?

MANHUNT CARCER CITY VERSION
So for what was going to be a expansion to this ended up being a completely new monster replacer all of its own. Same style, different setting.

Introducing Manhunt Carcer City Monsters.
now you can blast your way though hoodlums/crazies and psychos in mspaint style with your choice of weapon mods
mostly set in Manhunts Carcer City but with some additions thrown in.

FEATURES (mostly same deal as punisher mod)

Some quick things to be aware of.
-Cartoon Mspaint style.
-Cacos and Souls are not flying enemies but function well for most part
-Enemy shotguns + melee hurts alot.
-Has dogs these are very dangerous but weak
-Has some vehicles which don't have pain states so strafe/take cover
-Some sound quality is pretty average as not really my area.
-Also NSFW warning because Pigsy is in it!

I really like this. Been experimenting with the limited options out there for human enemies, more grounded arsenals and settings and stuff. So this is very appropriate. Manhunt and that Punisher game are perfect inspirations, and the use of voice acting from both is a great choice. I'm curious, what map and mod are you using in that first screenshot with the assault rifle?

The Weapon Mod is Lethal Doom viewtopic.php?f=19&t=54191
The map is from the Gameplay mod friendly version of Extermination Day
The city levels in it work amazing with the modern enemies (gives a feeling that instead of demons everything has been wrecked by anarchist criminals)

I've been attempting a IRONMAN playthrough of Memorial.Wad with Spawn on UV with this. Also play with the lost junker texture pack by thugsta to make levels bit fresher.

got the sounds from Gta3/vice/SA/GTA4 so definitely possibly. Actually got one more of these on the way with more militarized setting.

But if I do anything pure GTA I'm going have to put definitive rain in it.
