Johnson-Tompson V1.3.7 - Thunderous Firearms

Post by Welite »

Most gameplay mods I've made sport painfully vanilla weapons, Here's my attempt at something unique...
This mod was tested on 3.1.0 and 3.6.0 so it should run on newer versions to come.

Have some screenshots (I'll upload these to a proper image site soon):

Chaingun sprites - 3D Realms (Shadow warrior)

Chainsaw sprites - Yholl (LegenDoom)
Bulletpuff sprites - DBThanatos (QCDE)

Changelog:

-1.3.7:
-Sped up the plasma gun's firing speed and gave it a bit more kick
-Changed difficulty settings to accomodate for more powerful firepower
-Added gameinfo lump

Oh boy, more overkill!
The weapons feel nice so far. They feel super punchy and the sounds are great, but the visual recoil is pretty intense and I don't see any options to change it. You might want to make that an adjustable option.
Also, the plasma rifle replacement feels weak relative to the rest of the arsenal, not to mention it's sort of bland. It's a plasma weapon, and all it does is a hitscan attack? Disappointing.

Other than that, keep up the good work!

Cheers! I'll add a recoil intensity option and work on improving the plasma gun.

Visual recoil is insane, same with the smoke effects, also the dual chainguns are clearly overlapping and need to be spread apart a little.

Overally, decent effort even if the effects of the guns are a little samey.

Sorry for the late reply, I was working on version 1.3.7, I've added a changelog at the bottom of the post.
