This is an odd request, but is there a way to have the monster filter as a separate mod?

It's fully integrated into QCDE via ACS. So i dont think it can be easily separated. It may be possible, but in reality, Michaelis was the mastermind behind the implementation of the system. :P

Now, does this count as an update?

Oh my, gotta love that static feeling of this video!... And i see you also replaced all weapon sprites with something really effective, almost closer to the original! So yeah, that's some big change!

I was thinking Fritzkrieg from Team Arena might work as an alternative to BJ. For his active ability, he'd turn into a Wolf3D-style mutant, with a knife in his left hand, a machine gun in his chest, and whatever was already equipped in his right hand. Pressing fire makes him attack with all three at once. His passive ability could be doing more damage if he shoots an opponent in the back, as a reference to Wolf3D's mechanic where you do extra damage to enemies that haven't noticed you yet.

Man, those newly replace weapons looks so gorgeous and great! And i'm not being narcissistic, but i do miss some old weapon sprites of this mod. But hey, improvements are always welcome and i'm not against it or anything.

Haha. I know what you mean. We're thinking to at some point make an addon to use the old sprites. They have that "original" feeling to them :P
