Re: D4D - v3 Alpha 2 -- More upgrades!
Addendum to previous post (see previous page): Also a small note, since FMOD was removed from GZDoom, you may come across small instances of short freezes more often than before. This is normal. It's just OpenAL loading the files in which can get a little annoying. I've attempted to mitigate some of it by precaching a number of actor classes, but this means memory might increase a touch.

Check your load order.

Also, check if you're using the latest dev build. I almost reported a bug where the map would crash with a "Divided by zero" error just because the build I was using was only a litle over a week old (Don't worry, a new dev build fixed that, no idea how).

Yep. You caught the error too huh?
I fixed it via the engine side itself. I knew others would've encountered it otherwise.

So I just made a pretty big discovery lately. If you guys are having FPS issues, try disabling the sound backend (basically leaving you without sound) during more laggier parts of gameplay.
Options -> Sound Options, change Sound Backend to None and press enter on the Restart Sound.
This makes me sincerely miss FMOD already... It didn't cause nearly this much of a problem as OpenAL does.

Re: D4D - v3 Alpha 2 -- OpenAL warning (p.19)
And that's exactly why I never update anything until I absolutely have to. Ever heard of "Never change a running system"?
So, is there an understandable reason behind the removal of FMOD? I hope Zandronum won't do the same thing.

If only there were a "Developer Blogs" subforum where you could find the reasoning behind changes such as this...SoundOfDarkness wrote:So, is there an understandable reason behind the removal of FMOD?

Thought you guys might haven't seen it.GAA1992 wrote:Erm... sorry to ask Xeotroid, but, do you have the casing sounds? Or the ones in d4d resources are the original? They look like high-pitched versions of Doom 3 ones...

GAA1992: Might help to PM him directly.
SoundOfDarkness: Indeed there's a developer blog, as Kinsie said. In a way, it's quite welcome -- it means people can develop games with it to their heart's content and sell said games.

Re: D4D - v3 Alpha 3 (04/22/2017)
Alpha 3 has just been released. Included is a bunch of new sounds, so you'll need to update everything. GZDoom, D4DResources and D4D.
Please note the status bar overhaul is still in progress, but hopefully now this will fix that weird issue with the offsetting weirdness. I can't guarantee it. Also the full screen version hasn't even been started yet.

I do have them, do you need them right now? I want to include them in the pack with weapon sounds.GAA1992 wrote:Thought you guys might haven't seen it.GAA1992 wrote:Erm... sorry to ask Xeotroid, but, do you have the casing sounds? Re: D4D - v3 Alpha 3 (04/22/2017)
No, no need to rush it. I am sorry if it looks like I'm demanding something. I was just curious if they were the original or edited Doom 3 sounds.
