I strongly recommend that you use Dropbox, 4 shared has been an increasing pain in the ass lately, and it likes to spam ad pop-ups with virus'.

due to the highly rubbish nature of file4shared and the apparrent success of my descent into heresy mod I decided to re-release this on mediafire and as such have repackaged the whole thing. - download for the pack of both mods

the heretic mod is now updated with some new weapons:

this dark weapon shares ammo and weaponslot with the firemace and features ghostly projectiles that can actively seek out enemies.
the shadowstaff uses an interactive crosshair system that determines viable seeking targets. basically, when the crosshair shows a skull, you are 'locked-on'.
powered by a tome, the shadowstaff summons a dark wraith (akin to the hexen wraithverge) that seeks and attacks enemies at will...
this was born of watching too much LOTR (sarumans staff) and a good excuse to make a seeker and a summoner in one weapon for heretic...

wendigo heart
an interesting weapon with obvious ties to hexen; possession of the wendigo heart allows you to adopt their abilities somewhat.
a freezing weapon, the heart slings out rapid fire projectiles that run on the claw orbs.
powered, it fires a slower but more deadly projectile that also throws out further projectiles in a star pattern that make it most useful in a group.
should you wish to remove a frozen enemy from your path the weapon features an altfire in the form of a quick swipe from your staff...
this weapon is clearly an excuse to use the shadow warrior heart and the riseofthetriad magic hand sprites in heretic :D combined with some freezyness it felt rather fun and a nice alternative as i was just about sick of making staffs and wands lol!

so the mod also includes some other fixes and tweaks such as the ironliche ice attacks actually cause ice damage now...

oh, yeah I finally got the sword done too!

the Diakatana
The legendary Diakatana, summoned from the mind of the dark lord himself, this sword is an example of the desperation of the elves in their desire to rid the land of pathoris of d'sparil and his hoards of minions; binding a demon of the ancient world to the folded steel of this deadly blade using fragments of the fallen stars themselves, the elves created their finest close combat weapon of all...

yeah, so this is basically an excuse to have a good sword in heretic. the shadow warrior sword seemed the obvious choice as a match for an elven weaponset (think of Arwen's sword in lotr :wink: ) I named it the Diakatana in obvious reference to the old id software d&d game that ran (many many years ago now) in which Johnny R destroyed the game-world by accidentally summoning a demon trying to get the fabled Diakatana of legend...
the weapon itself is a rather satisfying rapid melee and when powered by the tome it glows with thunderous energy making much more of an impact when striking the enemy, so yeah, pretty boring alternative to the staff or gauntlests code wise but it was fun to redo the arms to corvus's and well, here it is! LOL

you'll find it randomised on the gauntlet spawnpoint and it sits on weaponslot 0...

and while I was at it these simply HAD to be done:

Elven Shurikens
more of an offensive-item than a full-on weapon, these throwing stars are a deadly lot of fun!
They can be found in threes and are randomised with the morph-ovum, taking up slot 9 in your weapons inventory.
they can rip through several enemies at a time and bounce off of several surfaces before loosing energy, whereupon they will simply drop to the floor to picked up to use again, cool eh? they are bloody useful at getting at enemies round corners or flushing out rooms from a place of safety.
these were more of an experiment to see if I could actually do the code to make these work the way I imagined them in decorate; mission success I'd say, and they were so interesting in-game I had to leave them in... simply to much fun to be had!


and , yes, I am aware that not only double posting, but treble posting is probably crime of the century to some minds but I am bringing nice things so perhaps I can be forgiven?

Nice, the more gore, the better. It's cathartic to play through Heretic and kill all those crappy enemies with high powered weapons.

new weapon:

ophidian staff
the weapon of the serpent-guard can now serve your purposes... you can find these from falen ophidians and they run on macespheres

this is based off of ettingrinder's simply excellent sprites and I just fancied adding it in!
powered it fires three projectiles in a fan pattern. (the two extra projectiles are less powerful than the centre one)

I've also tweaked the weaponslot positions to facilitate better gameplay flow. (wendigo heart with the dragonclaw/dragonstaff, the ophidianstaff with the firemace/shadowstaff)

Ethereal Throwing Axe
the infamous throwing axes of the undead warriors, these oddly run on ethereal arrows and can be found randomized with the crossbow or dropped by slain undead.

just another I fancied doing. uses a recoloured 'timons axe' of hexen in a throwy version for heretic...

I've tweaked the axes to make them a bit more powerful than before (too weak as far as ammo consumption was concerned) and have added a new weapon:

those familiar with hexen should find this kinda familiar, looks wise.
However, this hammer runs on runes and fires out hell-fire-hammers that bounce off of objects and seek out enemies using an interactive crosshair system that determines viable seeking targets. basically, when the crosshair shows a skull, you are 'locked-on'. it's not so usefull against ghost enemies though!
When powered the primary fire is a nice fancy lightning attack that can tear through several enemies at a time and also bounce off of walls.
alternate fire features a rather predictable swing attack that is the same when powered and unpowered...

Just because... :roll:

fixed a few bits, hammer has better powered anims. etc...
and new weapon:

Hellforge Crossbow
made by the damned hands of the Chaos Dwarves, this crossbow was the dwarves answer to the phoenix rod.
the hellforge crossbow uses runes to power the deamonengine within which in turn allows the use of flameorbs as ammunition.
this comboweapon fires out flaming projectiles in a manner akin to your ethereal xbow and secondary fire comes allows you to launch flameorbs as mortars, keep your distance mind, this weapon is quite explosive!
powered up by a tome this weapon mutiplies its main attack threefold and your alternate fire becomes a very deadly cluster bomb!
very killy but very expensive to run...

visually a sound mix of a couple of eriance's demonweapons and the cryo-bow. I felt it just looked so badass!
the idea being , gameplay-wise, is its a phoenixrod/etherealcrossbow mix-up...

well... I have to say I'm a little embarrassed but it seems to me I've done something i'm not fond of in modding:
gone too far... again :oops:

After playing for a while I've realized the new hellforgedxbow is utter tosh that may be pretty sprite-wise but is completely redundant gameplay-wise and serves no real purpose and as such has no place here in this mod AT ALL.
in fact all it does is take away from the mod not add. al that remains is that I've taken its altfire and given it to the phoenix-rod. it fits better there and cements the pr as 'the daddy' of heretic's weapons (as it should be) :wink:
as such the hfxb no longer has a weaponslot and cannot be found in the game any longer other than by summoning hellforgexbow from the console...

so, with this idiocy behind me I think I need to take a step back a bit and prevent myself from wrecking this...

sorry and with luck I won't be releasing any more too soon...
