Doom Enhanced - But what's enhanced?

Projects that alter game functions but do not include new maps belong here.
Forum rules
The Projects forums are only for projects. If you are asking questions about a project, either find that project's thread, or start a thread in the General section instead.

Got a cool project idea but nothing else? Put it in the project ideas thread instead!

Projects for any Doom-based engine (especially 3DGE) are perfectly acceptable here too.

Please read the full rules for more details.

Doom Enhanced - But what's enhanced?

Well, I'll tell you.

Violence!

VIOLENCE!!!!!

Ahem.

Basically, shit blows up, breaks, bruises and generally is ended in a far more spectacular fashion than usual, with assistance from blood effects of an old version of Nashgore.

It's pretty much done and is just waiting for a new official Zdoom release.

Thoughts? Ideas? Condesendingly talking down to me about how violence is bad and I'm terrible for glorifying it? Go ahead.

Go see a psychiatrist.

This and your other recent thread strongly suggest that you need help.

I'll book a group session with everyone else here who's done a gore mod. I can think of two off-hand.

May also want to book in Torm - he asked about using an old version of this when I first posted about it aeons ago. :)

This looks rad. If you haven't already make corpses shootable and such.

I would, but apparently I'm a slathering psychopath, and thus more concerned with... I don't know, what do slathering psychopaths do when they're not editing old games and talking about it on the internet? Staring at bright lights? Dressing up as dead parents? I'm not good at this headcase stuff :(

I wouldn't go that far if someone just tries to get the splatter effects in Doom a bit more realistic (although I have to admit that screenshot one goes really overboard ;)). I had already the "bad luck" of seing how a human body looks like if it is blown away by an explosion (some years ago in vacation in south eastern europe, a terrorist from a few hundred meters away but thats another story :P) and it indeed looks more like Nashgore than the original doom gore effects so if someone "enhances" these effects, I wouldn't automatically call him mentally diseased, he's just someone who tries to achieve a more realistic effect!

The thing I'd worry about is nailing a bunch of zombies with a rocket and watching the framerate drop.

If you're worried about THAT, then don't use Kill Monsters on The Gauntlet. ;)

I've played around with this, and only really had a short stutter when nailing five enemies at once.

The game goes down to seconds-per-frame if you use the Kill Monsters console command, but that's a cheat so I'm not entirely bothered enough to fix that.

I think the glass looks good and realistic. The mega-gore is a bit too much of the good side if you ask me.

I don't like enhancements, but I like violence(!!!!) and this certainly looks good in that respect.

Book me up, if we're all going, by the way :P
