Cold Hard Cash 2 - *STILL* LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS

Projects that have specifically been abandoned or considered "dead" get moved here, so people will quit bumping them. If your project has wound up here and it should not be, contact a moderator to have it moved back to the land of the living.

Cold Hard Cash 2 - *STILL* LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS

Post by wildweasel »

Crossposting from the DRD forums:

Those of you from the Armory might remember Cold Hard Cash, my experimental EDGE mod where you could purchase your weapons.

Well, I've gathered a small (and not terribly dedicated) project team to make a full-fledged sequel, designed specifically for GZDoom, including such features as:

- Interactive non-player characters, purchase terminals, and mission computers
- At least five complete missions, playable in any order
- A hub map, where players can purchase new weapons, information, and extra gear; hear the latest rumors, and accept missions for cash
- Lots of new weapons
- GZDoom features like 3D architecture, true-color graphics, dynamic lighting, and other special effects

But we are in dire need of new members to continue the project. Specifically, we need more mappers! We currently only have a couple mappers, and neither are active at the moment.

Is this supposed to be something that is supposed to be used with other levels? If so, I am afraid you may run into some problems regarding the dialog scripts. Right now you can't control how they are loaded and they only work for MAPxx style names, nothing else.

My original idea was that this be usable with other levels, but given this, I (and others?) may need to make maps for the project.

Mainly, though, I'm going to need a scripter before this can all come together.

I always thoght it would be possible. Using Dialog scripts sounds like the bummer, though. I wish there was a better way but hacking together something with Global ACS and DECORATE would be a pain, even for myself.

You wanted random purchase terimals to spawn in ANY map? Not sure how you'd manage that but heck, we did something like that for ctc.

If you are going to use Strife scripts, then your WAD will never work with coop or DM because that'll desync the game right away.

I don't think he intends to make it coop/dm compatible?

You can code an ACS alternative without causing desyncs, however.

Yeah that's what I have. But i'd much rather use an already made one such as Strife's. Oh well i'll stick with my mess for the time being.

I really don't think something like this would be very fun in DM or co-op play anyway. But then, I'm not much of a multiplayer kind of person either...

This sounds pretty damn ambitious to me, but, knowing WildWeasel, he'll make it awesome.

If multiplayer isn't your concern...

I have quite a bit of experience with Strife scripts and KSSC.

You can see some of it in http://nash.wanzafran.com/doomstuff/hehmap.zip

I'd like to offer to script your terminals, and I can also do your 3-d terminal models since I also can do models.

Hehe, this sounds just plain awesome if you can get it started... but hey, you're Weasel, so... ;)

Anyway, I would volunteer to help but I'm such an unreliable mofo that I wouldn't trust myself if I were you. Perhaps I could donate a weapon or two near the end, but for now I had better sit this one out. :P

Still sounds amazing though. :P
