Burden Of Flesh - 7 map episode wad released!

Postby zVOITTO » Tue Jan 04, 2022 6:27 pm

Burden Of Flesh is a set of 7 highly challening maps with vanilla style gameplay designed for single- and co-op play. The gameplay is a mix of exploration and combat challenges including but not limited to: Revenant boxing, Archvile BBQ and Cyberdemon Ping Pong and the levels vary from medium sized to pretty fricking huge. The visual style of the levels vary from map to map, with the unifying theme of All Kinds of Hell. The maps were heavily inspired by such wads as Sunlust, No Chance, Stardate duology, and Sunder to name a few. All but one map (MAP07) were first part of GERMS megawad project (Check it out here: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=65498) which is still fully in development and will be updated SOON (tm). While GERMS is fully a group effort, these maps were designed solely by Arse of team ZVoitto. I felt like these maps were good enough on their own to be a working and fun mapset with a matching visual- and gameplay style.

The Wad works on everything past ZDoom 2.8.1, such as GZDoom and Zandronum.

Difficulty PSA:
I would recommend first playing on Hurt Me Plenty or easier since Ultra-Violence gets downright Masochistic, as intended (but that wont stop you from trying, you freaks.) Pistol starting levels is optional, although it offers the best experience in terms of challenge and balance. Jumping and crouching may break levels, so it is not recommended.

Check the included .txt for additional information including credits and thanks.

Any criticisms, feedback, and comments are highly appreciated!

I must admit that I looked at this post several times and thought, eh that is just another one of 'those', but finally downloaded this pwad. Oh heavens to Bettsy, I would have missed a jewel.

Great architecture, great texturing, great teasers, but is it ever tough to beat. I had to inch my way forward with many savegames. I played it several times, with the same result, I died many times before the end.

Thanks for a great gaming experience. :thumb:
